Born from a real problem in NZ healthcare.
Short-staffing is one of the most persistent and damaging problems in New Zealand's healthcare system. A rest home scrambles at 6am to fill a nursing shift. A GP clinic cancels patients because their locum fell through. A qualified registered nurse sits at home, willing to work, but with no direct way to connect to the clinics that need them right now.
We built locu.nz to change that. A centralised, transparent marketplace where the two sides of NZ's healthcare workforce can connect directly. No phone calls. No middlemen.
When healthcare flows, communities thrive. Short-staffing doesn't just cost money; it compromises the care that New Zealanders deserve.
What we stand for
Transparency first
Every fee and every credential is visible. We believe locums and businesses both deserve to know exactly what they are agreeing to: no black boxes, no surprises, ever.
Locum-first
Locums are the backbone of flexible healthcare. locu.nz is free for them, always. If the locum wins, the business wins, and ultimately, the patient wins.
Built for NZ
Designed specifically for New Zealand's healthcare system: NCNZ, MCNZ, PSNZ credentials, NZ compliance, Auckland-based support. Not adapted from overseas. Built here from the ground up.
Verification standards you can trust
Every locum is reviewed by our Auckland-based team before activation. We check documents manually, because healthcare credentials can't be automated away.
We're a small NZ team. We'd love to hear from you.
Locum, clinic, or just curious: we respond to every message as soon as we can.
